Seoul Energy Dream Center Field Trip

On Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, GETPPP-KU students visited Seoul Energy Dream Center. Korea's first energy independent building, the center provides information and practical examples of energy independent design and architecture. The guided tour included an exhibition of renewable energies, such as wind, solar, hydro, bio, and fuel cells. The center also houses hydrogen station and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. The tour also included the Mapo Resource Recovery Facility demonstrating waste and resource recycling and recovery. The students also learned about the history of Nanjido, where the facility is located. The site of a retired land fill, it has been reborn as World Cup Park in 2002, which is divided in to 3 smaller parks, Haneul, Nanjicheon, and Pyounghawa Park, the last being where the center is located. The park and center represents Korea's efforts and success towards environmentally friendly urbanization and development.
