On Dec 6, 2018, GETPP students had the opportunity to visit the KOMICO Shin-Boryeong and Boryeong power generation site in Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. Shin Boryeong (Poryong) power station (신보령화력) is a 2,000 megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station next to the existing Boryeong power station in Boryeong. The Boryeong power station consists of 8 coal-fired units of 500 MW each, built from 1983 to 2008, for a combined capacity of 4,000 MW. It is owned by KOMIPO

KOMIPO is operating six power generation facility sites, including Boryeong Power Generation Site Division and Seoul Construction Site Division, nationwide, supplying stable, high-quality electric power and heat. Furthermore, KOMIPO is leading the domestic electric power market while at the same time building Shin Boryeong TPP, Shin Seocheon TPP, Jeju LNG CCPP and Seoul CCPP in preparation for the future electric power demand growth. KOMIPO is also actively carrying out power plant construction, operation and technical consulting for thermal, hydro and PV power plants in Indonesia, Thailand, USA, Vietnam, etc.
