[Nov 3, 2025] GETPPP–MOIT Electricity Authority: Roadmap for Vietnam’s Energy Transition

KU-GETPPP met with Vietnam’s Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority (EREA) under MOIT to strengthen cooperation and review Vietnam’s latest power-sector direction under PDP8.

GETPPP outlined a decade of work and proposed sustained partnership on renewables, smart-grid integration, and policy research. EREA shared PDP8 priorities—phasing down coal, expanding wind/solar and biomass, accelerating ESS and grid modernization, and reassessing nuclear after 2035—and invited collaboration on financing models, carbon pricing, and policy-impact assessment.

Both sides agreed to continue policy information exchange, pursue joint research and training, and activate the alumni network to support sustainable-energy development.

At the follow-on KU-GETPPP Vietnam Network Seminar in Hanoi, professors and partners from EREA/MOIT, VASS, TECOTEC, TUMIKI, and industry strengthened the alumni–partner network and mapped opportunities in energy, sustainability, and technology.

They shared cases (smart-city pilots with renewables/data, semiconductor training, water-resource decision support) and flagged needs for streamlined pilot management, talent development, and clearer channels among alumni, firms, and government. Agreed next steps: develop pilot-proposal frameworks (smart city, semiconductor, renewables, water), hold annual Seoul–Hanoi workshops, and promote joint publications/exchanges—with private partners ready to support 2026–2027.

Overall, the visit reinforced GETPPP’s mission to connect technology, policy, and finance through a government–industry–academia network—supporting Vietnam’s energy transition under PDP8 and advancing Korea–Vietnam cooperation for sustainable development.
