On October 31 and November 1, GETPPP conducted meetings in Vientiane, Lao PDR to strengthen collaboration on renewable energy and energy-efficiency initiatives aligned with national and international climate commitments.
The discussions gathered Professor Kang and Kim with Lao energy professionals including alumni Mr. Boualom Saysanavong and Dr. Boualy Vongvisith.

The first meeting(Oct 31) reviewed Lao PDR’s policy framework and current project pipeline across hydropower, solar, and biomass. Participants examined instruments to crowd-in private investment, measures for reliable grid integration, and priority actions to accelerate the energy transition. 

The dialogue also explored opportunities for joint work with Korean companies—ranging from renewable deployment and energy-efficiency upgrades to smart-grid technologies—together with coordination among government, development partners, and the private sector.

In second session(Nov 1), The group exchanged lessons from Korea’s policy and technology advances, discussed research and training opportunities, and identified avenues for project cooperation to support Laos’s sustainable energy transition.

Overall, the two-day program underscored GETPPP’s mission to advance international energy-policy cooperation and human-capital development through a government–industry–academia network—linking technology, policy, and finance to deliver practical transition outcomes in Lao PDR.
